This GeistHammer was created from unfinished spalted pear that was
air dried (seasoned) for four years.
The mouth was turned from cocobolo wood that has seasoned for over
20 years.
The standard HALE #2 tip and shortened shank are wedged into
position with recycled ivory.

Every GeistHammer Copper Series is a custom work of Art and represents the finest piano tuning hammer ever created. It is weight balanced at the forward grip to reduce binding in moving the hammer from tuning pin to pin. The shapes vary slightly from GeistHammer to GeistHammer in pursuit of the most comfortable feel and grip possible. |

The main body of the GeistHammer is shaped out of
domestic fruit or nut woods that provide the correct weight
focused toward the tip end. These woods provide just the right
finished texture for slip and grip when tuning. The wood is
selected, harvested, seasoned and milled for shaping by John
Geist. At the mouth between the tip and the polished copper ferule is an exotic piece of contrasting wood generally from some other part of the world. Here is featured the reddish Cocobolo wood. The main body is spalted Pear wood. Tiny ivory wedges recycled from old piano keytops position the steel shank. |
